Highlights of the Hotel – Part 1 – Maria Nova Lounge

In this post I’d like to describe the highlights of the Maria Nova Lounge Hotel. It’s located in the old fishing town of Tavira in the east of the Algarve, on Portugal’s south coast. Easy to get to because the hotel is only 35 minutes from Faro International Airport.

The area is littered with superb golf courses that include Benamor and Castro Marim. In addition, Quinta do Vale, Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are also close by. Perhaps the most well regarded is the championship course of Monte Rei. This Jack Nicklaus signature designed layout has consistently ranked as the number 1 course in Portugal for many years. As a result, the Maria Nova Lounge hotel is very popular with golfer’s.

This stylish 4* hotel underwent a €2.3 million refurbishment in 2015. The hotel is in a great position being a short stroll through old cobbled streets to authentic tapas bars and restaurants in the town center.

There are 134 rooms and 3 suites at the hotel and the supplement to upgrade to a “Pool View” room is worth it. In addition, all the rooms are fully furnished and have all the amenities required for a relaxing stay.
